This position works as part of a team supporting several aerothermal / hypersonic material evaluation programs within the Department of Defense and NASA. Candidates with interest and expertise in the areas of thermo-structural analysis of composites, experimental testing, heat transfer, and strength of materials are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
Understand material construction, manufacture, and fiber architecture and their relative impact on material performance.
Conduct thermo-structural analysis of test data and research results and arrive at interpretations of material behavior.
Develop and perform experimental tests of composite materials to assess performance and constitutive behavior.
Coordinate all results with team members and
Develop material ablative models and perform analysis to capture and predict material performance in relevant high speed test environments.
Maintain knowledge and awareness of engineering discipline through familiarity with current engineering literature and state of technology in the field.
Support off-site test execution.
Support technical proposal composition.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
MATLAB experience required.
Demonstrated experience required in two or more of the following: heat transfer, composites, experimental testing, and strength of materials
Demonstrated experience with executing projects successfully including planning, prioritizing, and goal setting.
Travel will be required to support off-site testing.
The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) Secret (MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN TO OBTAIN) is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Active DoD SECRET security clearance
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
