Hatch is currently seeking a Junior Engineer to join our Ports & Marine Infrastructure Practice in Houston, TX. Our team consists of highly specialized engineers focused on applying emerging technologies to critical infrastructure projects.
Perform basic engineering design tasks (conceptual, layout, and detail) and assist with detail design work;
Assist with the coordination and communication on all project activities between departments/divisions;
Provide limited technical direction to in-house staff and sub consultants;
Assist with development of presentations and report submittals;
Assist with drawing production and detail design and provide technical guidance to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers;
Participate in construction progress meetings and construction site visits;
Provide technical support during construction including review of contractor’s submittals and shop drawings for conformance to design documents.
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university;
Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale;
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) License;
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to quickly attain;
Minimum 1 year experience in a civil design engineering office;
Understand concepts of port container terminal and gate layouts;
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and AutoTURN;
Knowledgeable of the Port Houston’s production work expectations;
Previous experience in construction is preferred;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams;
Commitment to achieving engineering excellence;
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills;
Positive attitude and a strong work ethic;
Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines;
A desire to learn and continually develop;
Co-op or Summer Student Intern experience an asset.
