As an Environmental Engineer/Scientist , you will work closely with Project Managers on remediation of contaminated sites and due diligence transaction projects working out of ERM's Toronto office. You will be equipped with expertise in Phase I & II site assessments, remediation techniques, soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water and sediment sampling.
Provide technical assistance on site investigation, remediation, and due diligence transaction projects.
Plan and execute Phase I & II environmental site assessments
Conduct field work, including soil and groundwater sampling, ecological field studies, drilling, well installation, remedial pilot tests, construction oversight, and remedial system operation and maintenance.
Provide safety oversight for subsurface clearance activities and subcontractor management.
Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
Perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
Support ERM Partners and Project Managers to effectively manage projects and develop a skill set that will allow for advancement to task manager and project manager position.
Begin to develop client relationships by interacting with clients at job sites and supporting the Project Manager with general client management.
Actively contribute to ERM’s site investigation and remediation technical community. Collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute projects. Participate on teams consisting of multi-disciplinary impact assessment professionals from multiple offices around the global ERM organization.
Who you are:
BSc in Environmental Sciences; Geology, or Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
2-5 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension.
Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands-on trouble-shooting/problem-solving skills.
Able to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
Willingness to travel to sites that require overnight stays for periods of 1-2 weeks at a time, as needed to support field work at sites outside of immediate vicinity.
Eligibility for professional certification a plus (e.g., P.Geol., P.Eng., P.Biol., P.Ag.).
Valid driver’s license and good driving record

This is a full-time (40 hrs/week) position. During peak activity, there will be some overtime required.
