The Process Controls Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the process control systems and managing automation resources within the Liberty manufacturing facility. This role will support day-to-day programming needs for operations and maintenance, with the goal of improving safety, reliability and productivity. This role will also work on assigned projects for continuous improvement and will assist project engineers in effort to continually improve the overall efficiency of operations and troubleshoot issues within maintenance.
Provides support for the plant’s process control systems and programming needs.
Develops and supports PLC/DSC programs along with HMI graphics on specific projects.
Performs engineering calculations following standard methods and principles and applies engineering judgment where experience dictates.
Assists in the development of project specifications, estimates, change orders and schedules.
Manages assigned portions of project and is proactive in problem identification and resolution
Gathers information that is relevant to a problem and brings information to the team for discussion; Develops alternatives and receives assistance in identifying alternatives.
Supports plant electrical personnel by understanding, designing, and troubleshooting electrical control circuits.
Occasionally works with vendors to procure equipment and materials.
Understands the business processes and continually looks for ways to add value.
Looks for long term strategic solutions rather than quick fixes to problems.
Investigates and defines future upgrades or modifications to automation hardware and software based on operations and capital project requirements.
Evaluates upgrades and modifications to the automation hardware and software to ensure these assets stay up-to-date and integrate best available technologies.
Skills and Competencies
Review and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures.
Core competency in PLC/HMI programming and product knowledge of Rockwell Automation control systems and VFD’s.
Experience implementing automation changes including conception, programming and testing, and start-up in a manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Self-starter, willing to provide timely support for the PCS applications.
Ability to use basic and intermediate mathematical computations and problem solving.
SAP PM Usage with work orders.
Computer network skills.
Experience working with plant data historians (i.e. OSIsoft PI, Parcview, etc.)
Ability to work independently, with little supervision, in a dynamic, fast paced environment and able to prioritize multiple urgent activities.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Able to produce good quality documentation.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
Five+ years of work experience in an industrial manufacturing facility with sound knowledge of DCS/PLC programming
Working knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B
Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and ability to learn PC based production and maintenance reporting systems
Two+ years of SAP experience
