The Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) Polymeric Materials group is seeking a Polymeric Materials Engineer. The engineer will work in a cohesive interdisciplinary team environment and will be responsible for evaluating and developing non-metallic materials and processes with a focus on elastomers, sealants and adhesives for jet engine applications. The engineer will work with internal and external customers to define requirements, provide expert consultation, plan, and execute tests, analyze results, author technical reports, and create and revise material and processes specifications. Additional work responsibilities will include providing support in the transition of material and processes to production, providing manufacturing processing expertise to troubleshoot and solve technical problems, and providing support for continuous improvement activities.

The successful candidate must have a broad knowledge and experience with elastomers, sealants and structural adhesives, and the respective industrialization manufacturing processes. The successful candidate must also have experience with fabrication equipment and standardized lab testing and be able to function effectively in both the lab and the manufacturing environment. The successful candidate must have exceptional technical, analytical, teaming, organizational and communication skills, as well as be adept at problem solving and have an exceptionally high level of motivation and independence.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide support in the transition of material and processes to production, provide manufacturing processing expertise to troubleshoot and solve technical problems, and provide support for continuous improvement activities.

Work with internal and external customers to define requirements, provide expert consultation, plan, execute tests, analyze results, author technical reports, and create and revise material and processes specifications.

Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related field

Minimum 5 years of polymeric materials industrial experience, or 3 years with an advanced degree

Experience with elastomers, sealants, structural adhesives, and the respective industrialization manufacturing processes, fabrication equipment and standardized lab testing

US citizenship due to government contracts

Travel 5-10%

Ability to obtain DOD Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or related field
