Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Engineer A:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer

Licenses and Certifications Required:
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas

Graduate Engineer B:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline with at least two (2) years of engineering experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
Texas: Engineer – In Training Certification.

This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon qualifications:

Engineer A – (Salary $32.84 – $42.63)
Graduate Engineer B – (Salary $30.99 – $40.23)

This position will be responsible for:
Engineering oversight to ABIA facilities, including Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC systems.
Review technical and construction documents.
System analysis and troubleshooting facilities issues.
Planning and scoping – Help plan and scope projects for ABIA facilities.

ASSESSMENT:
This position will require a skills assessment.

TRAVEL:
If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK:
Top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

LANGUAGE:
Must have the ability to read, write, and fluently speak in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Utilize eyes for long periods of time while operating computer keyboard, computers, copy machines, and other office equipment.
Reasonable dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and/or manipulate computer keyboard, computers, and other office equipment, and safety equipment.
Walk, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, and bend from waist to perform physical labor.
Vision ability to see both near and far to identify objectives and/or activities
Hearing ability to hear both near and far.
Verbally and effectively communicate utilizing face-to-face contact, telephones, and radios.
React quickly, physically and mentally, in response to events and/or emergencies.
Utilize mental capacity for decision-making and comprehension.
Must possess the physical and mental capacity to safely operate motor vehicle during daytime and / or night time.
Able to put on personal protective equipment; e.g., hardhat, goggles, safety steel-toed shoes, long sleeve shirts and pants.
Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Sense of smell adequate to identify odors.
Stay outdoors for long periods (day or night) under severe conditions including, but not limited to, high levels of noise from jet aircraft, glare, and extreme cold, heat, wind, or dust.

WORK HOURS:
Shift may change according to departmental needs. Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work.

OVERTIME:
Overtime may be required with or without notice.
