This position is a data and communications engineer of the Polar Engineering Development Center (PEDC), as led by Dr. Andrew Gerrard. The successful candidate will perform data acquisition and telemetry development. Namely, to construct and test ruggedized systems for data collections and transmission via Iridium, for use in the Antarctic.
Linux development, DAQ interfacing, Iridium data transmission protocol, data analysis and handling and cold-chamber testing.
Bachelor's Degree, background in DAQ systems and knowledge of Iridium data transmission.
Antarctic field experience a plus. Extensive experience in computer science and engineering. Extensive experience in Iridium data communications and data archiving.
