Become savvy in new technologies by taking courses, learning from peers or self-directed education
Perform System/Mechanical design, modeling, analysis, and review
Execute studies, perform calculations and engineering analyses (tolerance analysis, stress analysis, flow analysis) and generate drawings and graphical representations vital to define the new concepts developed. Perform consumables and hardware component assembly activities
Work independently in a cross-disciplinary environment to plan and execute experiments using specialized test equipment and perform experimental data analysis
Facilitate technical problem solving and troubleshooting through proposed experimentation and alternative designs/approach
Develop sophisticated systems across multiple development sites
BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience OR a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience or equivalent
Design experience in sophisticated electro-mechanical systems and solid modeling CAD systems
Experience with hands-on machining, bench fabrication or similar
Proven experience with ASME and/or ISO dimensioning and tolerancing
Ability to work in the lab with biohazard materials
Design for manufacturability: Ease of assembly, Cost of Goods, second sourcing
Materials and component selection for reliability and chemical compatibility
Experience with task management software (Jira)
Experience with injection molded plastics
Experience operating as a technical lead
Experience with IVD and/or Life Science instrument systems
Familiar with ISO quality systems related to design control and product release requirements and audits
FEA analysis (CFD, Dynamics, Structural)
Packaging of cameras, optics, printed circuit boards, and microfluidic pumps and valves
