Purpose of position
In this role of Mechanical Engineer, we will develop producible mechanical designs and documentation to meet the overall system design performance and requirements flow down. The Mechanical Engineer develops the mechanical concept, defines the parts and materials, develops and/or directs the solid design model, and supervises/approves the production drawings and documentation. Perform or lead the tolerance, structural, thermal, and mechanism analyses. Support the development of prototypes, verification testing, and DTUPC.
Designing mechanical parts and assemblies for optical systems subject to A&D environments with support from optical designers
Support the build of prototypes
We anticipate up to 10% travel for this role.
We require a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
3+ years’ experience performing mechanical design
Designing, modeling, and drawing documentation (SolidWorks preferred)
Good knowledge of geometric tolerancing
Working knowledge of shock, vibration, and thermal analysis
Experience designing mechanics for A&D and/or optical systems
Test setup and fixture design is desired
Required to sign a covenant not to compete.
