The candidate must be able to design and develop multi-physics models of electric machinery by linking power electronic converter, magnetic and thermal models of the machine to quantify the electromechanical (i.e. torque, speed, core losses, efficiency, etc.), thermal (transient and steady state temperature distribution in the presence of a cooling system), and structural (vibration and acoustic noise) performance of the machine.
The candidate must have a strong background in electric motors and power electronics with a minimum of two years’ experience. Deep understanding of multi-physics analysis using analytical and numerical analysis of electric machines including two and three dimensional electromagnetic, thermal, structural and fluid dynamics processes is a necessity.
Familiarity with optimization algorithms and commercially available finite element packages such as Ansys and Comsol is required. General understanding of permanent magnet synchronous machines and development of dynamic models using lumped parameter models is necessary.
Candidate must have permission to work in US. Compensation will commensurate with experience.
