Engineer I or II – Controls

Hyster-Yale Group is looking for a talented embedded software engineer with a strong desire to learn and grow with our controls team in the Portland, Oregon area. This global development center develops materials handling solutions for the present and future. Current projects include: current/future forklift products, fuel cells and advanced battery technology.
Engineer I or II
BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
Experience with C or C++
Education with focus on Control Systems.
Basic knowledge of CAN bus systems (SAE J1939 or CAN Open).
Basic knowledge/skill in Simulink model development.
Proficiency in C programming language.
Experience with embedded system development.
Functions well in a team environment by working well with other employees and other departments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Innovative thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving.
Ability to follow established procedures.
Attentive to details to ensure accuracy in design and documentation.
Exhibits good judgment and a realistic understanding of issues.
Ability to apply basic principles and methods to resolve product issues.
Occasional travel may be required (less than 25% total time).
Specialized knowledge/skill in engineering analysis.
Ability and Willingness to Learn:
Engineering development procedures.
Engineering test procedures.
Electrical and mechanical control systems.
Model development in Matlab/Simulink
Other programming languages, as needed
