The Melbourne Manned Aircraft Design (MAD) Center of Excellence (CoE), Systems Engineering Directorate (SE) is seeking an Industrial Engineer with an Analytics and/or Data Science concentration/minor to support key program(s) in the Aeronautics Systems Sector (NGAS). The ideal candidate must also have programming experience in Python, R, SQL and a working knowledge of Tableau or other visualization software. The candidate must ultimately have a passion for data and an ability to identify problems and develop creative solutions with minimal guidance.
The position is responsible for leveraging large volumes of data from multiple sources, develop data set processes for data modeling, mining and production, perform ad-hoc statistical and data mining analyses, and recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality to present to stakeholder/s and leadership.
The candidate will be trained in parametric cost tools such as PRICE TruePlanning and SEER from Galorath to best understand the Life Cycle Cost of complex large systems. Will consider experienced or recent college grad with the academic background.
Be completing or has completed a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering, Data Science or Analytics from an accredited institution.
Experience working with data visualization software to include one or more of the following(e.g., MS Excel including macros, Tableau Desktop, QlikView, MS Power BI, etc.) or any other data analysis software applications
Experience with data mining/analytics programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and VBA in order to conduct causal and predictive analysis
The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Experience working or Intern in Aviation/Aerospace/Aeronautics/Manufacturing industry
Prioritize and design reporting dashboards (using visualization software such as Tableau) to support analytic measurement and evaluation to inform decision-making
Active security clearance
Studies in mathematics, statistics, computer science or a similar quantitative field
Experience with Cost Modeling, Cost Analysis, Cost Engineering and/or Life Cycle Cost
Data Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) methods to include data joining/blending and ability to write MS Excel macros
