The candidate will be a member of the Global Sustainment Training, Technical Documentation, and E-Media team supporting the Integrated Warfare Systems and Sensors and the Undersea Systems Market Segments in Liverpool, NY.
Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials and Illustrated Parts Breakdown material, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.
This position will require occasional domestic travel.
Ability to acquire and verify subject matter content by interviewing workers engaged in developing products and services, observing production methods, referring to blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, notes, manuals, and similar publications.
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Demonstrable ability and experience in working effectively with teams, including virtual teams, but also independently or with minimal supervision.
Demonstrable experience in using and applying clear and concise language that adheres to customer-established standards and conventions.
Ability to write technical content for procedure manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications that describes the installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment.
Highly proficient in MS Office software suite.
Ability to learn other text editors and markup languages.
Must be able to obtain & maintain a secret security clearance, this requires US Citizenship.
Desired Skills:Demonstrable experience or familiarity with:
- O-Level, I-Level, and D-Level maintenance manuals for military aircraft support equipment
- Creating and editing Illustrated Parts Breakdowns
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
