What you'll do:
As a Software Engineer in our Retirement & Income Solutions Pension area, you’ll help make a direct impact for our customers by supporting onboarding efforts of 3rd party administrators. This is a brand-new team that is really providing the technical engine to accelerate this part of our Principal business. The team will operate as an Agile Scrum team, using principles like paired programming and mob programming.
Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:
Able to work with guidance on multiple layers of the solution if needed. Growing expertise in at least one large area of the code/solution with a high-level understanding of other components.
Ensure system is secure and meets policy and regulatory requirements during development.
Participate in technical design of features with guidance.
Take on tasks of increasing complexity, learn quickly and make steady progress without the need for constant significant feedback from more senior engineers. Own small to medium features from technical design through completion.
Stay current and engaged on industry trends.
Assist in communicating technical concepts to business stakeholders as well as communicate business objectives to the technical team.
We’re looking for someone with:
Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field or equivalent experience).
2+ years of professional coding experience.
Basic planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills required.
Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow.
Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners.
Additional preferred technical experience:
Process automation (ex: Webpack, Grunt)
Source control management (ex: Git)
Code quality tooling (ex: eslint)
CSS preprocessors (ex: Sass, Less)
Debugging (ex: Chrome Dev Tools)
This position may require on-call responsibilities.
