The Quality Engineer will support production in all areas of production process from start to finish. The Quality Engineer will have cradle to grave responsibility for a specific product line/group(s) and will become the specialist for their specific product with a n in-depth understanding of the full process. They will build expertise and ownership with the overall Customer reported Quality performance of their product line/group(s) as a main performance metric. This role will create true product champions who are able to speak with a authority and knowledge about their product line/group(s) form partnerships with customer interfaces in the direction of product performance, application and general quality. They are the Lead function for Quality system development and on-going compliance for responsible product line/group(s)/. They must ensure procedural compliance is established and maintained regarding Preventative and Corrective action, Customer specific requirements, Non-conformance tracking and reporting in DTS and Customer portals for Quality metrics performance reporting. Provide support/mentoring for 8D development, problem solving, lab& testing standardization, corrective action read across verification , training to DTS procedures and plant specific resource needs. Execute PPAP, Control plan, PFMEA, DTS procedures and Read across, Customer/DTS specific requirements and audits of compliance.

Responsible for planning and coordination of quality programs and activities to ensure the quality and reliability.
Develop, execute and/or monitor quality plans and quality engineering tasks, as well as, manufacturing process validations and controls to ensure compliance with established requirements and regulatory expectations.
Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
Conduct internal audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
Define and implement Safe Launch procedures as required for new programs and Controlled shipping procedures for Quality spills with plan to exit within a reasonable time frame.
Provide direction and leadership towards supplied parts Quality standards for production. Support initial DTS supplier root cause analysis for supplier related quality concerns to confirm supplier fault. Work with SQ to drive Quality issues to closure.
Lead/Coach/Mentor /provide Quality support for Corrective Action (CA) teams ensure lessons learned are captured and read across to common lines and programs.
Establish training needs for responsible programs/lines and ensure training is planned/executed for entire team(s)
Coordinate/coach plant teams in the creation of monthly reports/data collection
Perform Process/Control plan Audits-ensure status is captured and reported w/defined CA plans taken to closure
Highlight and communicate awareness of major quality concerns/Work and coach plant team members for all significant quality spills or recalls.
Responsible to drive modification of DTS standards/procedures based upon systemic lessons learned.
Ensure implementation and compliance to Customer specific requirements.
Monitor, Collect and analyze internal and Customer data from reporting tools to establish Quality performance trends, define actions to address these and drive these actions to closure.
Support Plant launch activities as needed- ensure compliance to Customer PPAP requirements.
Provide general coaching and mentoring of the plant Quality team members (ie. Quality Techs, etc…)
Pull and ensure accuracy of monthly carts for reporting purposes
Generate monthly audits results/status presentation
Oversee and ensure compliance to Customer ES specifications-per program and Control plan requirements
Drive warranty improvement activities and 8D responses towards the customer
Provide training for lab equipment use, testing procedures and MSA issue resolution for responsible programs
Ensure common and accepted safety protocols for Quality are implemented as needed and complied with at least one special project per year- Variability or Process Improvement.
Position includes leading teams of hourly and salaried personnel. Must be able to ensure quality standards while working with production, consistent with business needs and Company standards. Must work well with entire work force.
Bachelor’s degree required, (Engineering or other technical field desired) with 5-10 years of experience, preferably with a launch; Desired competencies/experiences include Disciplined Problem Solving, PPAP, FMEA, and strong TS16949 and Q1 background, specific experience as an internal auditor. Demonstrated ability to evaluate Control Plans, FMEAs, Process Flow diagrams, and conduct PPAPs. Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word). Ford and Six Sigma experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills. Hands-on experience establishing, audited, leading and maintaining an ISO/AS quality system. Experience working as a QM, QE, or SQE in a manufacturing environment utilizing an ISO/AS quality system. Ability to read and interpret GD&T and engineering drawings. Experience in DFMEA, PFMEA, process control plans and technical process documentation. Trained in and have knowledge of root cause analysis, six sigma, CI and CA processes. Experience working directly with customers. ASQ certification preferred.
