Binnie is looking for a Civil Technologist to join our growing Water Resource team in Burnaby, providing professional services for the Ministry of Transportation, local municipalities, and land developments.
You will work as part of our friendly and supportive project team consisting of Designers, Technologists, Engineers of Record, and Project Managers on a wide range of interesting projects, carrying out CAD assignments to meet Binnie’s high quality standards.
Our team was recently involved in the detailed design of the Highway 1 and 216th Street Interchange Project and as Owner’s Engineer for the Highway 91/17 Upgrade Project in Delta. Typical design assignments include developing detailed designs of creek diversions, culverts, bridges and incorporating scour protection, fish passage and climate change considerations.
You will carry out design work, CAD assignments, site visits, and quality management according to Binnie’s Organizational Quality Management Policy (OQM). You will also utilize your strong technical skills and knowledge of 3D software to move us forward with changing technology. This role offers great mentorship opportunities.
Preparing AutoCAD and Civil3D designs and drawings including set-up, alignments, profiles, sections, corridors and pipe networks
Creating watershed delineation maps using GIS
Calculating design quantities for materials and preparation of cost estimates
Performing and documenting quality control checks on CAD drafting and Civil 3D work in accordance with Binnie’s Quality Management Program
Adhering to Ministry of Transportation and various municipal CAD standards as well as Binnie’s internal CAD standards
WHAT YOU BRING:
2 to 5 years of related work experience in a consulting engineering environment specializing in water resource.
Completed Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field
Certificate in CAD, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Registration (or eligible for immediate registration) as a GradTech with ASTTBC
Previous hands-on experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Knowledge or experience working with GIS preferred
Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle preferred
Strong time management skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team
Excellent attention to detail to consistently produce accurate, high quality work
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
