Software Engineer
Green River is looking for experienced engineers to join our team. We are a 32 person web application development company, committed to crafting effective software solutions that promote public health, school improvement, environmental protection, and social justice.
Qualifications:
2+ years of professional experience with server-side web frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Django, Express, Symfony, Laravel, or equivalent
A high degree of proficiency with relational databases, SQL, and ORMs
Very strong software design and object oriented programming skills
Experience with automated testing
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
Ability to work independently to diagnose and solve problems
Strong English communication skills
Nice to have:
Experience working in Ruby on Rails
Experience working with a team of engineers on a large code base
Experience working as a consultant or contractor
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical discipline
A typical work day might include:
Breaking ground on new features to establish patterns or prove out a design
Refactoring existing code to support new use cases or improve performance
Performing code reviews to ensure code quality and to mentor team members
Researching and evaluating new libraries, tools, and frameworks
Participating in meetings with clients and other stakeholders
Providing estimates, dependencies, and timing feedback in collaboration with the project manager
