This position is part of the RD&E Base of Pyramid team. We work with leading government and non-government institutions, academia and private industry parnters to develop and create access to new offerings that reduce the burden of mosquito-borne disease among the globally poor.
The Senior Associate, Development Engineering Process is expected to have a core understanding of manufacturing processes related to the production of household insecticide products in order to implement as well as expand capabilities beyond existing technologies. This role will be given specific guidance about the nature and extent of the work required, methods to be used, and results expected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development of innovative new products for the prevention of mosquito-borne disease.
Understand the functional properties, proper use, and the environmental impact of ingredients
Conduct experiments to scale up laboratory qualified formulations and processes and establish viable manufacturing processes in collaboration with Global Engineering.
Perform trials and testing to support small-scale product preparations for internal testing, small consumer testing, and process validation
Demonstrate skills in experimental design and statistics to identify alternative process methods and validate preferred approaches to meet business and project objectives
Author process instructions through collaboration with manufacturing engineers internally and externally
Perform plant trials to validate full-scale manufacturing processes for new products.
Follow good laboratory practices and all safety regulations
Design and assist with experiments to evaluate new formulations, delivery methods and packaging solutions for new products.
Participate in the preparation of products following GLP protocols to support the registration of new products.
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of documented experience in Consumer Product Process Development or Master’s Degree with minimum of 2 years of documented experience in Consumer Product Process Development.
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Strong technical knowledge and demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to solve complex problems related to heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics and unit operations.
Able to work on projects independently
Stay at the forefront of product innovations and trends so that new technologies can be leveraged in new products and new product packaging
Proficiency with Designs of Experiment
Process development experience
Self-starter who can apply their skills to a diverse, challenging, fast-paced team environment
Solid interpersonal, communication, and team skills to contribute to project and team needs
Experience working with regulated products is a plus.
Experience with product development for developing market end-users is a plus.
