Position Title: Director of Quality
Reports To: V.P. of Operations
Status: Regular Full-time
Location: Midland, MI
Responsible for development, implementation, and improvement of XALT Energy’s Quality, systems; ensure excellent quality, and compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements in the markets served by XALT.
Leads the development, implementation, and on-going management of the Plant Quality Systems in line with XALT Energy Corporate and customer requirements, including ISO 9001 and ISO14001 registration requirements.
Ensure customer requirements and expectations are communicated within the company.
Ensure company vision and needs are met in regards to quality and safety of our products and align with the customer expectations.
Acts as the authority for all quality related product attributes.
Works with plant technical staff and R&D to ensure plant capability and product specifications are in alignment.
Ensures plant quality related functions meet the requirements spelled out per XALT Energy’s production APQP milestones, including the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Provides overall leadership for the PPAP for product launches at MBP. Facilitate resolutions of gaps in alignment with plant start-up milestones.
Develop teams to:
Allow input into product designs ensuring they meet customer requirements and product safety expectations.
Develop our supplier requirements and make sure the suppliers meet these ongoing.
Develop and implement the process controls to meet customer requirements and product safety expectations.
Ensure proper follow up when expectations are not met by our suppliers.
Ensure proper follow up when expectations are not met to our internal and external customers.
Ensure systems are in place to control any non-conforming products and ensure correct and timely disposition.
Assist in continuous improvement of our processes and products.
Influence and control company culture to be focused on meeting customer requirements and expectations today and in the future and provide a quality product that is used safely by those customers.
Maintains a safe workplace and workforce while accomplishing responsibilities.
Establishes metrics/measurements to monitor/improve MBP quality performance and reviews with Plant and Corporate Leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with experience in ISO-9001, TS-16949, ISO14000 and Six Sigma concepts.
5-10 years of experience in manufacturing, 5 years in a leadership role.
Experience with automotive quality system requirements.
3-5 yrs. experience in laboratory management, test procedure development, data analysis, instrument calibration.
Strong background in quality systems and parts manufacture/assembly.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with broad range of people across functions and geographies.
Proficiency in MS Office software and experience with document control, process control, SPC software.
Knowledge of basic electrical principles required, knowledge of LI-Ion cell technology preferred.
