We have established a new sewing factory in Northbrook. We've been sewing goods in our wholly-owned factory in China for almost a decade, but it's time for us to get production back over here. Costs keep rising and I'm looking for ways to reduce labor costs with robots.
Now, I love robots. Love-love-love robots. I have a Dobot M1 and we're working with an integrator to do some more work on a full-blown robotic manufacturing cell - light curtains, part magazines, the whole nine yards. But we're all kind of thinking about having someone on staff that already has experience with robots that can begin integrating cobots into our normal pick/pack/etc. processes.
Qualifications would include recent/current experience in robotics, recent experience in software development/programming. If our salary range doesn't match yours, apply and let us know - we don't know what automation people are worth, and because we're not billing your time (e.g. you're working for us, not on projects for someone else) we're responsible for paying for you with cost reductions rather than customer invoices, if that makes any sense.
(In general, there are two kinds of accountants - those that are happy looking at a different company's numbers every day and those that prefer to work on their own projects from start to finish. We assume that robot-qualified people are the same way - maybe you want to go from facility to facility or maybe you want to get really deep into one facility. If you want to get really deep - you're the person that we're looking for.)
The facility where this is all happening is in Northbrook.
Areas of focus will be
- moving objects from static locations through multiple processes (sewing, printing, ultrasonic welding, packaging)
- using vision systems to move parts from one location to another for further processing
- perhaps using vision systems and tracked/wheeled robots for inventory picking for shipping processes
Boundless enthusiasm is a prerequisite. Willingness/ability to work hard and long to make cool things happen is also way up there on our qualifications list. This is a fine, stable, engaging place to work. A bunch of people with deep sewing experience (something on the order of seventy combined years of experience on the management team) sitting on a big supply of capital that want to change the way that Americans buy sewn products. It's fast, fun and an opportunity that only comes along once in a career. Drop us a line?
