This position provides workstation support for college (including extension sites) PCs and peripherals and provides assistance to students, administrators, faculty and staff. Responsible for responding to customer calls regarding computer system related problems. Performs diagnostics and first-line problem resolution of reported issues. Prepares, installs and relocates hardware and software for workstations. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Creates deployments for software updates and new software installations. Assists with answering Helpdesk emails and phone calls, creating service incidents in the Helpdesk system to track issues. Assists in the management of inventory of workstations and associated equipment, updates inventory information, maintains operating records and prepares operating reports. Travels to various WCC locations to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
1. A high school or equivalency diploma and a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a closely related field and one year of experience where a primary function of the position was the installation, operation, maintenance and diagnosis of workstation problems and associated equipment. OR 2. A high school or equivalency diploma and six years of experience where a primary function of the position was the installation, operation, maintenance and diagnosis of workstation problems and associated equipment. Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York at the time of appointment and maintaining the same while in the title is also required. *This is a Civil Service position. The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.*
The salary will be $63,219 plus competitive benefits.
