SURVICE Engineering is seeking a Junior Materials Engineer to be a part of the Scientific Engineering and Technical Assistance support that we provide to our Army Research Laboratory customer.
Job Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD
Work with a team of technicians, engineers, and scientists in a laboratory environment to support/lead projects involving various aspects of the synthesis and processing, characterization, and mechanical testing of ceramic materials.
Conduct lab-scale synthesis, processing, and consolidation of advanced ceramic powders using standard and novel methods.
Conduct bulk and surface characterization of ceramics including relevant physical, chemical, structural, microstructural, and mechanical metrics.
Prepare presentations and written documents summarizing efforts
Minimum Required Education/Qualifications: One to 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors or Masters desired in Material Science, Material Engineering or related degree. Some of the desired experience we are looking for:
Basic knowledge and practical experience with conventional and advanced ceramic synthesis and processing methods and techniques.
Microstructural and mechanical characterization experience.
Experience operating equipment used in synthesis, processing, consolidation, and characterization of ceramics and assist in maintaining relevant equipment.
Experience in writing technical papers and giving presentations would be a plus, but not required.
