The Operations Engineer applies engineering and construction expertise to optimize the NGL Water Solutions fleet of salt water disposal and pipeline assets. This position is responsible for ongoing optimization and operations process improvements of the assets in coordination with the Operations team and Command Center. In addition, the Operations Engineer helps with the creation and management of the preventative maintenance program, spare equipment inventory program, safety and environmental programs, downtime monitoring and ongoing technical engineering support.
This high visibility role works directly with Water Solutions executives, and requires an entrepreneurial approach and strong business acumen, along with the ability to travel frequently, primarily between Texas, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Optimizes Water Solutions facilities and pipelines, considering the efficiency, safety, and cost of designs and optimization of product recovery.
Prepares and presents pipeline and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and technical As Built documents to Executive and Operations Management on design elements and construction of Water Solutions assets.
Conduct hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies to ensure facilities and pipelines mitigate process safety events.
Identify and execute system optimizations within automation platforms
Works with command center to fine tune pipeline operations
Prepares and delivers status reports to Executive and Operations Management.
Partners with Operations to diagnose facility operational issues and makes recommendations for corrective action.
Understands and adheres to applicable Federal, State and local environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Researches and stays abreast of innovation and new developments in relevant areas.
Attends customer meetings and provides reports on pipeline measurement accuracy.
Coordinates with construction managers to ensure facilities and pipelines are constructed to Company designs.
Regular attendance at the worksite is required.
Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills.
Advanced competency in mathematics
Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written, in English.
Demonstrated business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset.
Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and enterprise information systems.
Adept at utilizing Synergi, AutoCAD and other engineering design tools to design optimized facilities and pipelines.
Familiarity with SCADA systems and operations.
Strong drive to cultivate leadership skills, share knowledge, and contribute to operational improvement.
Knowledge of engineering, operations and construction in the oil and gas industry.
Ability to be a team player and collaborate with team members across Water Solutions.
Ability to work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and customers.
Bachelors of Science (BS) in relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, petroleum, chemical).
2+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in oil and gas construction.
Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance required.
Up to 50% travel required. Requires the ability to travel to field locations where environment may vary significantly.
