The External Quality Engineer position is part of the Deposition Manufacturing Quality organization. In this position, you as a quality engineer play a vital role within operations. You will have the opportunity to work across organization functions to ensure the overall quality of deposition products. You will play a key role in addressing issues when they arise through the use of problem solving and quality tools, and will work to ensure that manufacturing processes and ultimately, final products, meet both internal and external quality standards. You will also manage projects to proactively improve quality performance.
Analyzing problems reported and developing improvements to overcome them
Reporting and communicating quality issues and solutions
Work closely with external partners (e.g. field service engineers, account team, customers, product group)
Driving investigation of quality excursions to root cause and ensure systematic solutions are in place
Working closely with manufacturing staff to ensure quality protocols are followed, documentation is correctly maintained, and implement any new changes or adaptations based on quality reviews
Continuous improvement in the manufacturing process
Other Job Responsibilities
Daily triage of external non-conformances (customer complaints)
Validating problem statement, updating damage codes, impact classification, assigning or reclassifying, assign investigation group
Create investigation and assign to production corrective action team when criteria met
Review of open investigations
Partner with other manufacturing organizations to implement projects
Meet with operations corrective action team
Meet with field account teams to report findings and actions taken
Capable of clear and direct communication within the organization and other organizations
Capable of clear and direct communication with field service personnel and account teams
Effectively coordinates with multiple groups to drive problem solving activities
Demonstrates ability to prioritize and manage more than one problem at a time
Demonstrates strong skills in reasoning and analysis
Familiarity with SAP, Cell Fusion, and iQMS
Knowledge of deposition tools is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science discipline and/or
6-8 years of experience in engineering or related field
Lean Six Sigma experience preferred (Green or yellow belt)
Some travel may be required
Some after hours / before hours meeting time may be required to accommodate global time zones
