This position requires expertise in the engineering practices for the manufacturing of shafts and related gear case components. Knowledge of Safety, Lean Six Sigma, PFEMA, PPAP, CNC programming/tool path and automation is required. Knowledge of materials processing including forging and heat treatment is also required.
What will your primary responsibilities be?
Analyze and report timely data to print requirements (microstructure, surface contamination, weld quality, etc.) on processed production parts, prototypes, and tooling.
Creates process plans and documentation for new product introduction
Responsible for production processes and problem solving
Adheres to the quality plans and support of ISO objectives
Responsible for perishable tooling and cost in responsible areas
Initiates and approves the design of gages and fixtures
Provides engineering with prototype parts as requested by product or design engineers
Conducts cost and feasibility studies
Responsible for acquisition and justification of new equipment
Approval of BOM's related to manufacturing
Other functions as related to gear, pinion, clutch, and shaft manufacturing
Who are we looking for?
Bachelors degree in engineering, mechanical engineering preferred
5-7 years component manufacturing experience preferred
Gained spline knowledge through attendance of seminars in gear design theory, process theory, inspection theory are required as continued development
Appropriate experience in industry may be considered to satisfy the requirements for this position
Significant project management record in a team environment
Technical writing skills
Knowledge of quality engineering principles
Working knowledge of shaft machining and grinding
Thorough knowledge of tools, gauging, inspection, and fixtures for shaft manufacturing
Cost estimation skills
Thorough knowledge of materials
Knowledge of heat treatment for gear, pinions, clutch and shaft applications
Knowledge of CAD
Proficient computer skills
