Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Field work: 50-70% Assist with surveying duties including instrument setup, construction staking, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction layouts, field data collection with either conventional survey instruments or GPS, reconnaissance for H/V control, property corner evidence, field stakeout of proposed routes or future construction, and technical support as needed.
Office work: 25-45% Drafting/AutoCAD, printing, assembling packages for clients, city/county submissions, copying, faxing, e-mails/outlook, answer phones and providing prompt, courteous service to callers including follow-up calls or other pertinent interaction.
Other: 5-10% Deliveries to clients, city/county offices, post office and other work related travel. Maintain and operate all vehicles, surveying instruments, computers, and any other tools designed to help produce surveys. Keep office and work area clean.
High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record-DMV printout.
Able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
Eager to work outdoors in all types of weather, standing and/or walking all day.
Ability to set property corners and construction stakes, pounding a hammer repetitively all day.
Ability to read a tape measure and perform calculations.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment/tools to load/unload vehicle to from office, job sites and other locations as needed.
Ability to report for work on time daily and work Monday-Friday as scheduled for 8 hours between 7am-5pm.
Ability to work overtime daily and/or weekends as needed.
Required Experience and Skills
Proficiency is required with Outlook, Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.
Most important are demonstrating outstanding professionalism and exceptional customer service ability, strong work ethic, sharp organizational skills, polished verbal and written communication skills, listening and problem solving ability and a proactive approach.
Ability to perform basic calculations (i.e. distance, square footage of land/acreage, trigonometry).
Quality note taking skills.
Attention to detail and consistency with processes.
Desire to learn the business and grow with the company.
Preferred Experience and Skills, but not required
Knowledge of construction industry, experience with GPS surveying, construction staking, boundaries and topography, courses or degree in Land Surveying.
