As our Engineer I, you will:
Work under the direction of a supervisor or work leader and assist Gas Projects Managers and higher level Engineers on specific facets of their natural gas pipeline projects; Projects include the replacement of pipelines, upgrades of pressure regulating stations, compressor stations and extensions of new pipelines;
Perform engineering calculations, analysis, research and design;
Manage smaller, more routine projects (manage total project lifecycle from conception to final completion, including project scope, budget, milestones and deliverables);
Review design and construction plans to ensure adherence to design and construction standards;
Communicate with internal and external customers to obtain requirements and expectations for projects and to form preliminary estimates.
Utilize various models, applications and records to select and scope gas pipeline replacement projects.
Analyze information from various sources in order to assist in the prioritization of proactive construction projects based on both risk and costs.
Interact with other engineers, modelers and operations managers on a regular basis in order to create and maintain a prioritized project plan that balances to an approved capital budget target.
You will also perform field research, take measurements and photograph job sites.
A valid driver's license is required.
We will be accepting Spring 2020 graduates for this role.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):
Master's degree with 0-1+ years of engineering-related work experience OR
Bachelor's degree with 0-2+ years of engineering-related work experience
**Engineering-related internship experience can qualify
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prefer candidates w/ professional engineering-related work experience.
Experience with engineering-related project tasks such as:
Preparing project cost estimates
Preparing project schedules
Performing and reviewing engineering calculations
Applying engineering standards to a design
Cnstruction plan reading
Supply chain management
Reviewing plans submitted by third parties
Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD platform(s)
Experience using Microsoft Project and/or Microsoft Project Pro
Knowledge of Six Sigma or of Lean Six Sigma practices
Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals and theories
Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
Effective decision-making skills
Computer skills and application of software programs (including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Analytical and abstract thinking skills
Ability to learn to apply engineering theories and concepts to complex problems
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
Ability to develop effective planning, project and organizational skills
Ability to develop project management skills and to handle multiple tasks
Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently
Education Level: Required: Bachelor
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
