The principal function of the Municipal Engineer is to oversee engineering design, modification and implementation of capital projects and Engineering Operations. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director but extensive leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. Acceptable experience and training in design and construction management including a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Prior experience as a Municipal or City Engineer is preferred. Possession of a Professional Engineering License is required with the ability to obtain reciprocity in Alaska within one year of employment.
