Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, part of Hexagon Metrology, is hiring for a Systems Engineer to sit in either the San Jose, Bay area or Portland, OR.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for development, integration and testing of the completed metrology solution as well as smaller development projects to build re-usable base components and software to be used within these systems. She/he ensures that system integrity and overall metrology performance is maintained when all systems are combined. She/he develops and executes test plans and analyzes the obtained data. The Systems Engineer is fully versed in all mechanical and electrical safety standards for manufacturing technologies.
Integration of Robotics Systems and their controller software with CMM’s and other Measuring Equipment i.e. Trackers, White Light Sensors, and Laser Line Scanners
Programming of PLC’s for use in automation cells with CMM’s, Robots, and Pallet Changers
Develops various system parameters, compensations, methods, applications, computer programs and other means to improve reliability and metrology performance
Creates manuals and other required documentation of custom metrology systems and components
Assist Integrated Solutions Business Development Manager with quotation generation, by providing input on component selection and project scope for systems
Works closely with Mechanical & Electrical Engineers in customer program development and implementation
Assists in the integration of Custom Metrology sub-systems, such as probes, controls, and special custom fixturing
Involved in research and development of new and emerging technology
BS in Engineering or business-related Technical Discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
5+ years of experience in metrology, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering or similar environment
2+ years of experience in industrial integration
Proficiency in Robotics and their programming
Proficiency with MS Office
Understanding of PLC programming and field bus technology, a plus
Understanding of industrial vision technology a plus
Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, and adherence to mechanical and electrical safety standards of the manufacturing industry
Ability to travel up to 25% domestically
