Design & Release Closures Engineer

Job Responsibilities

Your specific duties as a Design & Release Closures Engineer will include:

Design & release sheet metal components and assemblies for various body closures systems. Includes
Doors, deck lids, lift gates, static/dynamic sealing, and movable roof systems.

Implement product development process including product planning, development, validation & launch.
Ensure products meet function, quality, cost, weight, and timing requirements.

Job Requirements

As a Design & Release Closures Engineer you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred experience:
D&R engineering in sheet metal body structures, closures, stamping & body construction, static sealing,
Dynamic sealing and/or movable roof systems within the last 2 years at other OEM or Tier 1 supplier.

Includes upfront design & package of parts, build/testing and prove out and production launch.
Experience/capability with CATIA v5, particularly performing studies and viewing capability.
Familiarity with stamping process, including hot and cold stamped steels, Advanced High Strength steels, SMC, hydroforming and other lightweight materials such as aluminum and magnesium stampings and castings.
Good communication skills, capability with Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience/familiarity with GD&T
Willingness to work overtime & travel to support launches.

Will consider:
D&R experience in non-sheet metal automotive commodities such as Safety Systems, Exterior/Interior Trim, and Chassis within the last 2 years.
Recent college graduates with qualifications noted above and min 3.0 GPA with CAD capability (prefer
CATIA V5), no experience required.
