Headquartered in Wendell, NC (20 miles East of downtown Raleigh, NC), the Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit has a diverse portfolio of products including but not limited to electric-vehicle chargers, low voltage motor control centers, compact modular reclosers, distribution switches, medium voltage switchgear, medium voltage circuit breakers, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relays.
The EA Business Unit of Siemens is looking for highly qualified and energetic Engineers for its medium voltage (4.16-38 kV) Air or Gas Insulated Switchgear team.
Qualified candidates will have options to work remote.
Essential Job Functions:
â¢ Work with guidance from a mentor or Sr. Engineer to create all documents for customer approval and
manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgears. Typical documents include:
o Panel arrangement
o Electrical schematics
o Three-line drawings
o Wiring diagrams
o Nameplate schedule
â¢ Develop knowledge of product and applicable codes and standards to complete required documents.
â¢ Develop knowledge of Engineering Base CAD software to complete drawings.
â¢ Determine proper method for applying, installing, and wiring special devices as required.
â¢ Visually compare design of component, or other equipment with drawing of parts, matching
coordinating points for accuracy of fit.
â¢ Work with the factory manufacturing team to diagnose and resolve engineering issues.
â¢ Understand that job descriptions change over time. You are expected to maintain competence,
awareness, and compliance with your job.
â¢ Treat all Siemens information and customer information in a confidential manner.
â¢ Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills in the English language; must be fluent in English.
â¢ Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
â¢ Ability to read, understand and evaluate electrical schematics to identify errors or potential
â¢ Knowledge of Electrical Power Systems and its various components
â¢ Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done with high quality and in a
â¢ Proven experience with Microsoft Excel.
â¢ Ability to multitask, managing large workloads and business demands.
â¢ An ideal candidate is detailed orientated and able to embrace a culture of quality.
Considered a plus but not required:
â¢ 1+ years of Electrical design/drafting experience with protection and control or engineering firms.
â¢ Electrical design/drafting experience with Engineering Base (Microsoft Visio) and/or AutoCAD
â¢ A Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus with extra consideration given if degree
concentration is in the area of power systems.
â¢ Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear.
â¢ Experience creating and working with CAD smart blocks
â¢ Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear
â¢ Working knowledge of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage power
