Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch, a full service engineering consultancy, is currently seeking a highly motivated PLC/HMI Programmer to join our team in Houston, TX. Hatch’s Houston office is a center of innovation in digital technologies for power, automation, controls, communication, physical and cyber security, and smart city solutions. Our team consists of highly specialized electrical, communication and technology engineers focused on applying emerging technologies to critical infrastructure projects. This challenging position involves working as part of a highly specialized team focused on planning and design of electrical, automation and communications systems for water, transportation, and industrial projects.

The successful candidate should have experience executing projects ranging from writing simple PLC programs, to designing and programming the layout for complex HMIs across a range of platforms. Relatively broad IT experience from cisco switch stack configuration, virtualization software (type 1 and type 2), PBX, DVR systems, Access control systems, VPNs, VLANs, Networks, and routers.

Qualifications and Experience:
5 Years relevant experience. (Essential/Minimum)
Plant and process functional designs, HAZOP participation, functional control specification development
Control System design and delivery, preferably in a diverse set of roles (e.g. engineer, designer, software programmer, commissioning engineer)
Modern industrial control and protection systems (PLC/DCS/SCADA), and Data Historians
Software programming / scripting such as Java, C#, VB.Net, Python, R, MATLAB or Similar
Modern industrial communications networks and technologies, including wireless networking
Cyber security, and secure networks
Plant and facility commissioning
Familiar with Electrical engineering and designs
Must have general knowledge of hydro power generators and transformers
Familiar with medium voltage low voltage switchgear
Familiar with bus protection and protection systems for power plants
Commissioning and supervision of hydro power plants
Familiar with formal software engineering standards and approaches
Familiar with safety critical design processes and designs

Key Responsibilities:
Establish user requirements for systems solutions
Development of C&I requirements including user requirements, functional requirements, detail design requirements and interface requirements specifications
Control architecture and system designs
Instrumentation specifications and designs
Functional (software) control specifications
Single line and three-line diagram design and review
Construction coordination for electrical systems
Play a consultancy role for automation, protection and electrical systems
System, integration and software test planning and testing
Tender and procurement documentation, and vendor submission evaluation
Interfacing and working with others in a multi-disciplinary EPCM projects
Installation supervision and commissioning
Participate in project progress and client meetings to review the progress and issues pertaining to a project
Develop end-user operations and maintenance support documentation and procedures
Interfaces with clients, develops commercial proposals and supports business development
Coordination with other key disciplines on the project including client and contractor technical staff associated with the project implementation, site engineering and quality control
