We are seeking a Software Engineer - Backend (PHP) to join our talented development team. This person will be responsible for the development of new features and functionality for our eCommerce sites, ensuring that they meet the needs of our customers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Agile team members and business stakeholders to solve business needs.
Work with senior team members to develop enterprise web applications using object-oriented techniques in Symfony framework on a LAMP stack, utilizing several open-source technologies.
Help develop new features and systems, as well as improve existing platform components.
Support integration with 3rd party tools and services, as well as integration between different in-house systems.
Utilize data mining and analytics techniques, including multi-database reporting.
Qualifications and Required Skills
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Advanced knowledge of object-oriented programming techniques and software design patterns.
Comprehensive understanding of web platforms and technologies, including HTTP, REST APIs, and JSON.
Firm understanding of eCommerce/eBusiness platforms and payment systems.
Desired Skills (Technical)
Working experience in a development / test team employing Agile Scrum or Kanban.
Capable of working with existing code bases, identifying areas of improvement, and refactoring using industry best-practices.
Experience with Service Oriented Architecture, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, Node.js, github, and/or Amazon Web Services.
Knowledge of web caching tools like Varnish, Apache Ignite,and NGINX
Experience with AMPQ technologies including Rabbit MQ, Apache Qpid, or similar.
Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, and/or Stash.
Experience with tools such as Grafana, Kibana, and Splunk.
