Exempt: Yes Department: Engineering Reports To: President Location: Flippin GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Provides engineering support to production of cable assemblies and wire harnesses. Supports all production activities of assemblies and subassemblies to enhance the production process, improve product quality and reduce costs. Develops new methods, tooling, and machine designs to resolve engineering and production problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans and independently conducts analyses of assembly production methods, procedures and processes, using engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
Determines and recommends changes to assembly processes to resolve production problems, reduce errors and eliminate waste. Analysis typically includes equipment and tool design, production preparation, work flow and process study.
Investigates product rejections, determines cause/s of rejections and looks for engineering solutions. Ensures production staff is following proper procedures to eliminate production waste and reduce scrap. Works effectively with other personnel to resolve production problems.
Devises and recommends new techniques, standards and procedures to fix problems encountered. Initiates engineering change process.
Works with production and quality assurance to generate test runs. Follow changes through process to ensure smooth and efficient implementation.
Troubleshoots production problems and provides technical assistance on various problems relating to maintenance and operation of equipment and facilities, product quality, and production processes.
Provides engineering support on sample and prototype production.
Designs jigs and fixtures and coordinates their fabrication.
Repairs tooling, and designs new mold tooling, production tooling, special tooling and production fixtures.
Provides instruction and training to technical and non-technical staff in technical operations.
Serves as a resource to production staff.
Responds to technical, difficult or unusual questions concerning production processes. Helps resolve production problems.
Determines disposition of rejected vendor material. Resolves obsolete component problems.
May provide technical assistance on environmental conditions and energy utilization.
Maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to perform position responsibilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Broad knowledge of such fields as advanced accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. equivalent to four years of college, plus 4 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT None. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane, algebra, solid geometry and trigonometry. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Under general direction, working from policies and general directives. Rarely refers specific cases to supervisor unless clarification or interpretation of the organization's policy is required. PLANNING Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of employees, all performing basically the same type of work. DECISION MAKING Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of small organizational component and the organization's clientele. MENTAL DEMAND Intense mental demand. Operations requiring sustained directed thinking to analyze, solve, or plan highly variable, administrative, professional, or technical tasks involving complex problems or mechanisms. USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.) ACCURACY Probable errors would normally not be detected in succeeding operations and may have serious effects in relationships with patrons and/or with the operations of other segments of the organization. Frequent possibilities of error would exist at all times, since the above mentioned areas are inherent in the job. PUBLIC CONTACT Occasional routine contacts with persons outside the organization. This would include contacts with suppliers, mail service, etc. EMPLOYEE CONTACT Contacts with other departments or offices and also frequently with individuals in middle level positions; consulting on problems which necessitate judgment and tact in presentation to obtain cooperation or approval of action to be taken. Also, important contacts with associates as required in advanced supervisory jobs, plus frequent contact with senior level internal officials. REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS . Experience in mechanical drawing (drafting), machining, electrical circuit troubleshooting, and prototyping. Familiarity with PCs, including word processing, Windows, and CAD software; voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, milling machines, surface grinders, EDM machines, and hand tools. Knowledge of engineering principles, math, reading technical manuals, interpreting blueprints, estimating time and materials PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Experience with military and aerospace requirements, testing and materials. Knowledge of company manufacturing and assembly processes.
