NGA's Directorate of Expeditionary Operations (DOE) seeks a self-motivated, enthusiastic IT Operations Engineer with a wide range of technical education and experience to serve in the Expeditionary Support Technology Branch (DOEST). The IT Operations Engineer applies in depth technical knowledge, skills, and experience with industry standard server and desktop software and hardware to field complex GEOINT workstation and server systems; deployed network/SATCOM systems; and desktop and office automation equipment to meet expeditionary production requirements. DOE provides its partners with a full range of support services and integrated solutions needed to accomplish the Office of the Director of Operations (DO) mission. DOE staff provide proactive, comprehensive support, delivered with efficiency, professionalism, and a strong focus on cost value. DOE services include Information Management, Information Technology, Infrastructure, Logistics, and Facilities Management. The IT Operations Engineer participates in short and long term CONUS and OCONUS deployments to install, configure, and maintain desktop and server systems, desktop NAS units, printer/plotters, VOIPS, local area networks, as well as tactical SATCOM and terrestrial communications systems. * Deployments may be on short notice and under tight timelines and austere conditions. * Participates in information technology (IT) projects and coordinates fielding and sustainment of IT equipment, coordinating closely with other IT and communications subject matter experts across the Department of Defense and US Government. * Receives and fulfills IT requirements from DOE customers and coordinates IT equipment deployments. * Writes point papers and is responsive to short suspense tasking's for technical information. * Applies sound engineering principles to improve DOE's IT processes. * Performs market research in support of recapping existing hardware and in the investigation of new and emerging technologies. * Must meet CONUS short term and world-wide long term deployment requirements (including medical evaluation) and must be able to deploy worldwide for at least 120 days per year to support operations in crisis areas. * Be available to participate in short notice TDYs to include the following: CONUS Crisis support, site surveys, equipment installs, equipment recaps, and troubleshooting/resolving equipment issues. * Interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team or collaborative environment. * Demonstrated ability to establish regular contact with high-level internal and external resources and have periodic contacts with other offices, supplying or seeking information on specialized and non-specialized matters; use of tact when expressing ideas or opinions to senior leaders, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders. * Must be willing and able to complete requirements for a state issued Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of filling the position. * Must have recent hands on experience with administration of Windows and Linux Desktop/Server operating systems, TCP/IP based local area networks, Network Attached Storage. Experience with satellite communications and scripting of common system administrative tasks using Powershell Python, Bash or similar is desired.

You must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. In addition, you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination in order to maintain access to Top Secret information. NGA utilizes all processes and procedures of the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Non-executive NGA employees are assigned to five distinct pay bands based on the type and scope of work performed. The employee's base salary is established within their assigned pay band based on their unique qualifications. A performance pay process is conducted each year to determine a potential base pay salary increase and/or bonus. An employee's annual performance evaluation is a key factor in the performance pay process. MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:
For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience in IT operations, system engineering, system testing and evaluation, IT project management, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in IT operations, system engineering, system testing and evaluation, IT project management, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. -AND- LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: DAWIA certification may be required for this position; see Position License and Certification Requirements below for additional details.
