Opto - Mechanical Engineer
Quality Vision International
Quality, KY

The Opto-Mechanical engineer designs and develops new products, product sub-systems, and components with emphasis on the mechanical engineering and design for optical subsystems and verification fixtures. This includes but is not limited to the design of optical sub-systems per optical engineering lens designs and their integration into precision video metrology.

Position Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively with optical engineers on the precision mechanical design of optical systems. This includes the mechanical design of cells, barrels, mounts, and assemblies that meet the functional requirements for alignment, optical performance, and manufacturability.
Works collaboratively with optical engineers on the precision mechanical design and packaging of non-contact laser probes.
Develops fixtures that support the alignment and verification of optical subsystems. Works closely with Optics Manufacturing to ensure testing and verification processes are supported with the necessary fixture hardware.
Develops mechanical solutions for illumination systems including surface, oblique, and profile configurations.
Works with Manufacturing to assist in the development of processes and work instructions for the assembly and qualification of precision machine and optical systems and to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing problems.
Supports the manufacturability of opto-mechanical subsystems with improved designs for efficient and trouble-free assembly and installation.
5 - years minimum applicable experience with proven accomplishments in successful opto-mechanical design.
3D CAD Modeling proficiency; Autodesk Inventor preferred.
Parametric mechanical modeling skills
Demonstrated working proficency in GD&T Y14.5M-1994
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Educational Requirements:
4 - year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent science degree with emphasis on solid body mechanics and precision engineering.
