Develops, troubleshoots, educates, and provides support for food processing applications related support and equipment selection for cooling, chilling, proofing, freezing, steaming and drying applications, production line specification, layout, line sizing, process improvement, budgets, sales proposals and order turn in documentation. Serves as an internal point of contact for Customers, Sales, Marketing, Project Management, Service, and Engineering for food processing improvements, both domestic and international.
Essential Duties and Percent of Position:
Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and company policies/procedures.
Participates in prospect review meetings, the quotation process, and the generation and review of order documentation.
Provides applications-related information for the forgoing.
Manages customer expectations with respect to applications possibilities and problem resolution, and ensures JBT has the ability to meet those expectations.
Provides applications, technical, and budgetary assistance to sales representatives, project managers, and others on Freezing/Allied equipment and line systems.
Provides recommendations for equipment, sizing, product conditioning, throughput, capacity, processing methodology, etc. to meet customer expectations.
Actively participates in the planning, execution, and follow-up of product demonstrations and/or test activities in the Food Processing Technology Center. Explains and interprets test results for customers. Reviews features/benefits and functions of equipment for guests.
Coordinates with Sales and Customers to conduct onsite testing at customer facilities (domestic and international) on existing equipment in a food processing environment. Gather data on existing processes, develop capacity ratings for existing JBT equipment, and determine ways to optimize customer production capabilities.
Develops and maintains applications guides that can be used by Sales and Project Management.
Establishes and Signs-off on project budget.
Works closely with Customers, Engineering, and Operations to gather needed information for pre-sale drawings and provides advice on non-standard requirementsServes as a point of contact between JBT and the customer for applications projects and issues.
Builds and maintains a positive relationship with customers and suppliers associated with the project.
Knowledge and Skills:
BS Degree in Food Science or Engineering. Knowledge of the food further processing industry.
Knowledge of high-volume cooling, chilling, proofing, freezing, steaming and drying applications equipment and processes a plus.
Ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings. Strong critical thinking skills to interpret and utilize information from a variety of sources and interpret highly technical concepts and practical applications.
Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis techniques along with preventive and corrective action skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interface with co-workers, customers, and allied suppliers. Strong reporting, presentation, verbal and written communications skills.
Good organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and thrive in an unstructured, change-oriented, fast-paced environment where schedules, deadlines, and customer demands can shift priorities.
Computer skill expertise in spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and MS Outlook software applications.
A working knowledge of ERP (Syteline) business system software a plus.
Technical familiarity with testing manufacturing, fabrication, and service disciplines preferred.
Leadership and team-building experience with the ability to integrate a diverse group of people to achieve objectives.
