Advertised Job Summary
Provides leadership to and supervises contractors and staff in the completion of assigned project work. Plays a key role in the design, development, and management of utility masterplan projects as funding and leadership guidance require. Works with and advises staff with project responsibilities, in the bidding and implementation of maintenance, utility, and capital projects.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master’s degree in engineering or engineering related field and 4 years related experience, or bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering related field and 6 years related experience. Driver’s license required.
Thorough knowledge of application theory and practices for large central steam and chilled water distribution systems, and HVAC mechanical systems. Working knowledge of high voltage systems and equipment. Working knowledge of direct digital control ( DDC ) energy management systems; and ability to write and interpret complex technical plans and reports. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and communicate effectively with management and other professionals. Ability to demonstrate organizational, planning, and scheduling skills; to problem solve; to build teams and positive customer relationships. Ability to manage multiple and complex duties concurrently; to prioritize work activities in alignment with the department’s goals in order to meet time restrictions. Ability to work within specific resource limitations, and to assess training needs of employees with regards to energy conservation. The ability to make fact based decisions; and to project a positive image which encourages high morale and promotes confidence.
