BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY
Performs highly complex (senior-level) computer programming. Work involves coordinating report development projects, helping provide automated insights to the financial teams for now and possibly others in the future, working to provide technical assistance, and working with users and Business Services staff, individually as well as in team settings. Reports to the CAPPS and Business Intelligence Manager and works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs report development activities (including data analytic reports): design, code, test, implement, maintain, and improve.
Provides on-demand reports in various output formats.
Creates data models, reports dashboards, and visualizations.
Monitors database performance.
Produces technical document/specification.
Performs light scripting for process automation and data analysis.
Gathers user requirements and change specifications.
Analyzes, plans, and creates procedures to automate processes.
Provides technical expertise to assist with new tools implementation.
Trains end users on the usage of reports and BI reporting tool.
Provides accurate development estimates based on high-level and/or technical requirements.
Performs all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
May supervise the work of others.
Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies & procedures handbook.
May occasionally work evenings, weekends or holidays.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM, 40-hour week, Monday – Friday.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in data processing, computer science, information technology, management information systems, engineering, or a technical related field is preferred.
Four years of experience in programming is required.
Experience using Microsoft applications to include Microsoft Word and Excel is required
Three years of SQL experience is preferred.
One year of programming in a modern programming language, e.g. Python, Java, Java Script, C, C++, or C# is preferred.
One year of data warehouse management experience is preferred.
One year of Business Intelligence (BI) reporting experience is preferred.
REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE:
Valid driver’s license is required. *If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for driving state or personal vehicles to conduct agency business.
Selected candidate must pass a federal security background investigation. The process includes a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) and fingerprinting. New employees must complete and sign the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Form SF85. Completed forms are submitted to the OPM for the background investigations.
Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). Selected candidate must pass a federal security background investigation. The process includes a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) and fingerprinting. New employees must complete and sign the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Form SF85.

Work is typically performed inside in a sedentary office setting. Work may involve sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crawling. Work requires regular use of a computer and telephone. This position may periodically require the ability to lift, carry, move and/or set up equipment and materials that weigh up to 50 pounds.
