Durham College is seeking experienced and motivated professionals who share our commitment to quality and student success. The Centre for Professional and Part-time Learning requires contract eLearning Developers for various online courses. Reporting to the Director of Program Quality and Development, the eLearning Developer will be responsible for designing and formatting online learning materials and assessments within a learning management system in the field of French language learning for English students.
Create fully online asynchronous courses or courses that are a hybrid of asynchronous and synchronous delivery, including navigation, dropboxes, discussion boards and lesson pages using the basic principles of web design;
Ensure layout/sequencing of content accurately reflects the course outline;
Design and develop appropriate learning activities for technology mediated learning;
Implement the principles of Universal Design for Learning during development of materials;
Maintain alignment of all teaching materials with the course learning outcomes;
Ensure all materials are AODA and WCAG 2.0 compliant and follow copyright law.
Skills & Qualifications:
Candidate must possess an advanced diploma or degree in web design;
At least 3 years of recent experience developing quality web pages;
Intermediate knowledge of French (reading/writing/listening)
Experience with learning management systems, particularly D2L Brightspace and/or Blackboard an asset;
Advanced use of HTML required;
Ability to effectively develop and integrate various educational technologies;
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and participate in consultative decision making;
The demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines;
The organizational skills to take a project from an initial idea through delivery, working under pressure, with minimal supervision.
