BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Materials Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in one or more of C, C++, Java, Python.
Industry experience with mixed-signal Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) and system validation test development; comfortability with PCBA, soldering tools, and handling small SMT components
4 years of experience working in or with manufacturing environments, preferably contract manufacturers.
Experience with developing automated mixed-signal (RF, microwave, and digital) hardware testers, including integrating test systems into network and IT infrastructure.
Familiarity with embedded software development/testing and FPGA, embedded systems programming experience.
Familiarity with hardware development and test tools (e.g. spectrum analyzers, VNAs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, programming interfaces,etc.).
Effective hardware and software debugging skills.

Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
With your technical expertise, you create test plans for highly complex platforms (e.g., validating the interaction of multiple pieces of equipment at the networking and subsystem levels), and using your deep knowledge of component design characteristics, you diagnose highly complex hardware or software issues.
The mission of Google’s Quantum AI Labs is to develop a quantum computer to tackle problems that would potentially take years to solve on even the world’s fastest classical supercomputer. Working in our team means you get to take part in the invention of a new kind of machine, i.e. one that uses physical laws that have been known for almost a century but only recently harnessed in a piece of technology and never used for a full-blown computer. It’s a diverse team with programmers, physicists and fabrication experts. The computer that we’re trying to build brings together cryogenics, vacuum, microfabricated RF circuits, digital and analog control electronics with embedded digital control, lots of software to control the whole apparatus, and more. As a Hardware Test Engineer, you will design test systems for the Quantum electronics hardware as well as participate in all test efforts both in-house and at contract manufacturer.

Consult with design engineers to develop, deploy, and maintain test infrastructure (hardware and software) to support the Quantum effort’s hardware needs .
Work with contract manufacturers to support board and system builds (this may require travel to CM vendors).
Leverage Google infrastructure to facilitate test data access, analysis, and distribution, e.g. write tester code that saves data to the cloud.
Provide your expertise to ensure that designs take DFT methodologies into account at the design stage.
