Primary Job Function:
As a member of the II-VI Platform Technology Development and Incubation, a II-VI CTO Group, the incumbent develops processes for laboratory, pilot and full-scale production processes, particularly, diamond growth & fabrication process along diamond-related MEMS device simulations/fabrications/characterizations, wafer polishing/bonding/coating/characterization, and equipment as well as developing innovative new approaches. In this role, the incumbent executes internal and contract R&D projects that develop lab, pilot, and emerging production processes. Leads projects with internal and external partners for the design and building of new material manufacturing equipment. Leads research tasks involving materials characterization with a group of advanced instrumentations. Serves as a corporate resource serving internal needs within area/s of expertise. Incumbent, having one or more of the educational backgrounds outlined below, is expected to develop strong capabilities in crystalline, energy-related, high performance, and value-added materials technology, and device-designs and fabrications over time with emphasis slanted towards the perspective of the particular background of the incumbent. The emphasis of this position is a combination of engineering, physics and chemistry disciplines with materials science and the ability to assimilate and apply knowledge from other engineering disciplines.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Minimum MS degree with 5 years' experience, Ph.D. preferred with 2 years' experience.
Experience:
Two to five years' experience in high technology advanced materials development with experience in manufacturing process development, or highly achieved exceptional recent graduate. Direct experience with diamond and Semiconductor-Fab are preferred.
Special Abilities:
Hands-on experience in material processes development, equipment designs and constructions, data acquisition, automation, as well as in experimentation in a chemistry lab, a clean room, a semiconductor Fab, and an industrial manufacturing environment. Specific experiences in diamond, MEMS, RF devices, optoelectronic devices, crystal growths and fabrications, coatings, polishing, wafer-bonding, etc., will be a plus.
Expertise in
Crystal growth, slicing, thinning, lapping, polishing, cleaning, packaging, etc.
Wafer bonding, thinning, polishing, inspections, and coating for semiconductor/optoelectronic applications.
Experience in semiconductor fabrication processes such as thin film deposition, lithography, etching, packaging, testing, etc.
Lab, pilot, and manufacturing tool designs, automations, and implementations.
Semiconductor process layouts, RF analysis involving ADS and HFSS, and other electromagnetic/wave and or Ray optic simulations.
Experience in a group of advanced instrumentation such as Surface Metrology, Thin-Film Metrology, SEM-EDX/EBSD, AFM, XRD, Raman, TGA-DSC, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Auger, XPS, SIMS, TEM, NMR/Solid-State, ESR, BET-Pore Size Distribution, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, etc.
Data acquisition and software coding skills with proficiency in C, C#, C++, Python, Java, Visual Basics, MATLAB, as well as knowledge in HMTL/Web, SQL/database and other project management software.
Simulation software COMSOL, ANSYS, and other multi-physics simulations
Strong skills in IP Creation and IP Protection.
Documents processes in order to provide individuals the ability to repeat the process for the purpose of duplication of systems.
Develops cost models, issues analytical reports and offers professional/technical advice.
Responsible for the continual improvement of process quality for all systems.
Strong project management skills, computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook), written and verbal communication skills, as well as organization skills. Able to manage multiple projects.

Experience in SPC, Six Sigma, Lean, MBNQA, and TQM techniques.
