Formulate estimates for proposals
Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Attend site visits and mandatory pre-bid meetings.
Considers raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, labor and transportation for estimations.
Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Perform site visits for documentation and cost estimating of existing systems and building conditions.
Coordinate system layout and drawings with other disciplines.
Perform Telecommunications analysis and develops appropriate system concepts and layouts.
Design Telecommunications systems, including calculations and cost estimating.
Prepare technical specifications and write technical proposals.
Review and evaluate shop drawings and product submittals.
Prepare Design Analysis and Engineering Reports.
Prepare contract change orders and modifications during project.
Complete complex and specialty types of outside plant, inside plant, paging, security, and secure network system designs.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Head, or Director of Engineering.
A Bachelor’s Degree 2-4 years’ experience or a satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience.
Requires technical knowledge of the work involved, and the ability to use cost-estimating methods.
Proficiency in AutoCAD/Microstation, Microsoft Office and working knowledge of application codes.
BICSI RCDD Certification is preferred, but not required.
OSP, ISP credentials desirable.
Must have a current, valid driver’s license and be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance if needed.
Hiring is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen and back ground check.
