The maximum salary for the Marine Engineer 2 is $5,072.00 per month. Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Six months of experience in the operation or maintenance of internal combustion engines on marine vessels.
NOTE:
Possession of a current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) must accompany license when required by the US Coast Guard for duties performed.
Job Concepts
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To receive formal and on-the-job training necessary to qualify to perform licensed engineering duties on board state owned marine vessels.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Entry.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from a Marine Master or equivalent level supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Primarily the Department of Transportation and Development, but use by other agencies may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Marine Engineer 2 by the presence of duties that are performed in a training capacity.
Differs from Marine Oiler by the presence of expanded duties in the operation and maintenance of a vessel engine room.
Examples of Work
EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Trains and assists in the operation and routine maintenance of an engine room and machinery aboard a marine vessel, such as main propulsion diesel engines, main electrical generating plants, hydraulic systems, sanitation systems and pumping system.
Trains and assists in maintaining required Engineering logs and records, and making reports.
Trains and assists in safe refueling operations.
