PRINCIPAL ACCOUTABILITIES: Provides day-to-day construction management and administrative responsibilities for all assigned on-site construction projects
Ensures project is on time, within budget and in compliance with contract documents. Delegates work to assigned staff
Performs construction site and plant inspections regarding approvals in compliance with plans, specifications, codes and other contract documents
Performs value engineering analysis, reviews change orders, prepares cost estimates and backup justification, and participates in negotiations with contractors
Coordinates construction work and interfaces with NJ TRANSIT Operations Departments and other user organizations
Verifies and recommends for approval construction progress payments and consultant invoices.
Performs technical reviews of A/E and contractor submissions
Recommends standard and criteria for design, and conducts constructability reviews
Assists Project Manager, Community Relations Rep. and Line Supervision in dealings with the public on project related issues
External Candidates Being Sourced Concurrently
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture or closely related field from a US Department of Education accredited college or university, and,
Five (5) years of applied progressively responsible experience in construction engineering management of rail bridge, station and facility construction
Excellent verbal and written communications required.
OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Material Training and NJ Transit Contractor Safety Training Certification preferred
One year of closely related work experience can be substituted for each year of education required
