Distilled Spirits Design Studio:
Luckett & Farley’s Distilled Spirits Design Studio seeks a qualified process engineer to join our growing team. We are a dedicated design studio with project experience related to all aspects of a distillery, including the white oak sawmill through the distillery, the tour experience, and retail. Our team is diverse with a variety of complementary experience in each discipline: architecture, interior design, and engineering. We are all one team, working together in close coordination.
Our work hours are flexible, and half-day Fridays make it easy to balance life events yet still be with your team during core hours for maximum possible coordination. We encourage personal growth and offer paid training and development.
Market Director, Distilled Spirits Studio
Has working knowledge of the following: Mash Cooker, Mash Cooler, Fermenter, Distillation Column, Vessels, Pumps, Piping Systems.
Understands of ANSI, API, ASME, NFPA, MEMA, and Welding Standards.
Knows ASME B16.5 and other piping related design documents used to develop pipe specifications.
Completes equipment data sheets, requisitions, bid evaluations and vendor submittal reviews.
Able to mass balance process energy demands and size heat exchangers.
Creates Mechanical Equipment and Project Construction Scope of Work Specifications.
Independently performs detailed hand and computer calculations/analysis.
Completes pipe flexibility and technical design and documentation or pipe supports.
Demonstrates independent and collaborative problem-solving design & analysis experience.
Able to perform as the Process Lead on Multiple Distillery projects.
Plans, monitors, and executes projects tasks within budget and schedule requirements.
Ensures constructability of design. Works with vendors and contractors to simplify designs.
Must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency.
Communicates very well with clients and our internal multi-discipline design team. Must be able to convey design intent to clients and listen to feedback.
Actively participates in project meetings. It is possible that an occasional meeting may require travel involving both day trips and/or an overnight stays out of town.
Assists with construction phase services such as site observation reports, review of contractor submittals, requests for additional information, etc.
Actively participates in and pursues continuing education, including but not limited to, CEUs, Lunch & Learns, trade organizations, and independent study.
Operates in a cross-functional capacity, if workflow demands, to support the multi-disciplined Distilled Spirits Design Studio.
Actively supports strategic goals of the firm.
AutoCAD P&ID and REVIT use is required. A working knowledge is preferred; however training will be provided.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ideal Education, Registrations and Experience:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Minimum 5 years’ engineering design experience
Professional registration as PE
Design knowledge and experience in distillation systems is preferred. Equivalent related experience will be considered.
