Raven is currently seeking a Hydraulic Systems Senior Design Engineer to join the OMNiPOWER team. The Senior Design Engineer will research, design, build, test, and improve autonomous agricultural equipment. OMNiPOWER is a self-propelled power platform that easily interchanges farm implements like a sprayer or spreader. OMNiPOWER lets the farmer remotely operate and send the unit on autonomous missions from a tablet.
Research, develop, and evaluate design concepts including materials, specifications, equipment, or machines.
Perform or facilitate installation/testing related to the product, system, or process.
Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhancement of existing products or processes.
Create and update documentation for designs, and all phases of the project.
Work with external customers, distributors, vendors, or suppliers to initiate new designs and solve problems.
Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers
Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications.
May provide or assist with training needs as it relates to new or existing products or processes.
Will assist with quote or request for quote process.
Maintain a clean and safe work area. Follow established safety and ergonomic standards.
Has broad knowledge and skills in the engineering discipline. Assignments are broad in nature requiring creativity and ingenuity
Responsible for defining technical approaches and tasks related to activities and projects.
May act as lead on projects and guide junior engineers and technicians.
Degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering. Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years experience required.
Experience designing off highway equipment is required.
Experience using 3D CAD design software is required.
Experience with hydraulic system design is required.
Experience with GD&T is preferred.
Experience working with test engineers to create test procedures and analyze results
Knowledge of common fabrication processes (forming, welding, machining, etc.)
Ability to apply design theory and methodology.
High level of customer service skills.
Well-developed problem analysis and problem solving techniques.
Team player who is self-motivated, and has ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
Limited travel will be required.
