In this position you will be responsible for owning a critical component of autonomous vehicle project development at the Ford AV, LLC – the ecosystem of data that is used by various aspects of all of the projects. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering data organization solutions is required, and familiarity with robotics sensing data (camera images, LiDAR point clouds, RADAR tracks, etc.) is desired. This role involves designing, orchestrating, and executing a plan to maximize the availability and value of captured data streams for use by Ford AV algorithm developers and test engineers. You’d be part of a dedicated team focused on executing applied research and bringing those ideas to market.
Work closely with the AV LLC team to deliver data solutions to support development of autonomous vehicle related technology
Own the process pipeline for capturing, ingesting, tagging, curating, processing, and analyzing data being collected and used to support and improve AV performance
Design an overall data storage and management approach
Oversee the data operations teams and act as liaison to the software development teams which produce the operations tools
Provide recommendations for data ecosystem architecture design and tool selection, optimally utilizing available tools such as network-attached storage, high-performance compute frameworks, and distributed data processing systems like Hadoop
Work closely with software developers to ensure that data solutions appropriately support all data use cases (such as testing and validation, calibration, mapping, labeling, model training, status monitoring, time series processing and visualization, etc.)
Design and create software tools and utilities and as necessary to streamline and automate the data processing pipeline
Act as the interface for data labeling operations suppliers
Ensure best practices of data curation and analysis are followed
Maintain knowledge and act as a resident authority on data storage, processing, and analytics tools and techniques
BS+ in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field engineering discipline with 5+ years’ industry experience, in data processing, storage, and/or analysis,
or a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field with 2+ years’ industry experience, in data processing, storage, and/or analysis
2+ years’ experience with software development in C, C++, Python, and/or Java
2+ years’ experience developing in a POSIX environment such as Linux or QNX
5+ years’ industry experience, in data processing, storage, and/or analysis
5+ years’ experience with software development in C, C++, Python, and/or Java
5+ years’ experience developing in a POSIX environment such as Linux or QNX
Demonstrated experience with data storage and analysis tools and techniques, such as Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, Chef, Puppet, Splunk, R, etc.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Ability to work independently and take ownership of delivery for mission-critical functionality
Proficiency with databases and data warehousing, such as SQL, MongoDB, Hadoop, etc.
Experience with ensuring security and reliability of data and processes
Experience with efficient time-series data analytics and mining
Experience with mainstream cloud provider data solutions
Experience with Agile development tools and best practices
Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, etc.
Familiarity with network architectures and transmission protocols
Familiarity with Autonomous Vehicles and/or Robotics sensor data
Familiarity with video formats and compression algorithms
Familiarity with machine learning networks and training processes
