The JB Steel, Inc. team is looking for a go-getter Project Manager.

Who we’re looking for

To be successful in this role you will need to manage industrial and commercial construction jobs from concept to turn-key. Coordinate schedules and services, manage budgets, and ensure all work is performed skillfully, efficiently and within the timeline and estimate. You will need to bring your leadership, organizational, and management skills to the table.

Your workday might look like this

  • Assist with pre-construction activities as needed: construction planning and design; interpretation of design and drawings; application of construction methods; bid packages
  • Interpret designs and drawings; prepares takeoffs; researches and recommends resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts and errors
  • Maintain submittal logs and timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings
  • Recognize change conditions with respect to the contract and notifies appropriate parties
  • Coordinate inspections and testing of work
  • Assemble construction financial data; monitors costs; tracks costs for force accounts
  • Ensure time coded to are completed accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on; assigns cost codes to all purchases, time cards, contracts, equipment time and any other item involving cost
  • Assist Superintendent with daily field reports
  • Create correspondence to owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, etc.
  • Maintain as-built drawings and RFI logs
  • Assist with constructability reviews and value engineering functions
  • Assist in the definition of contract bid packages and coordinate scopes of work
  • Assist in project close-out activities
  • Communicate and reinforce the Company vision, values and goals
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

You need to have

  • Bachelor's degree in a construction-related discipline from an accredited educational institution
  • 5+ years in the construction industry, preferably Design/Build and/or industrial and commercial construction.
  • Must have broad working knowledge, skills, and abilities of materials, methods, and tools related to design and build construction; specifically commercial/industrial wood, steel and concrete construction
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft operating systems and Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project. Ability to learn new software quickly (i.e. Timberline)
  • Excellent math, reading, writing, and communication skills with diverse audiences
  • Highly organized and efficient time management
