Generation operates and maintains a diverse resource portfolio including hydroelectric, solar, simple-cycle and combined-cycle natural gas, batteries and fuel cells. Generation’s vision is to achieve excellence in safety, operations, and innovation, delivering reliable, valuable and clean generation solutions for our customers and communities.
You’ll be part of our water management team which is focused on the safe, compliant, and optimal operation of our hydroelectric assets. Your role will be as an expert on inflows and water movement at the plants. You’ll utilize existing models and also develop new models for inflows and water movement. At each step you’ll be ensuring quality of data, models, and reports.
Detailed things we will have you do………
You will develop and maintain hydrological and hydraulic models
You will produce operational inflow forecasts for various basins
You will make operational water movement recommendations
You will manage water operations data and providing quality control
You will also improve existing and developing new reports for all partners
And you will coordinate with internal and external resources on modeling, data, and process improvements
Qualifications we need you to have……
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Water Resources, Environmental or similar curriculum) with coursework in hydrology and hydraulics
Alternate degree fields will be considered depending upon the nature and depth of the experience as it relates to the position
Five years of experience in modeling and in forecast development
Experience in water system modeling and inflow forecast development
Other things that will set you up for success……..
Master’s degree or greater in Engineering (Civil, Water Resources, Environmental or similar curriculum) with coursework in hydrology and hydraulics.
P.E. or E.I.T. with the intention of obtaining California PE in near future
Experience working with or in generation, transmission, substation, or distribution
Experience developing inflow forecast models of Sierra Nevada watersheds
Ability to present complex issues in a simple, logical, and concise manner
Strong oral and written communication skills
